چکیده

Mobile agents are a powerful tool for coordinating general purpose distributed computing, where the main goal is high performance. In this paper we demonstrate how the inherent mobility of agents may be exploited to achieve fast file access, which is necessary for most general-purpose applications. We present a file system for mobile agents based exclusively on local disks of the participating workstations. The mobility of agents allows us to make all file operations local, which significantly reduces access time. We also demonstrate how code files and special system files can be handled efficiently in a localdisk-based environment.

Fast Mounting and Recovery for NAND Flash Memory Based Embedded Systems

Even though its advantages such as non-volatility, fast write access time and solid-state shock resistance, NAND flash memory suffers from out-place-update, limited erase cycles, and page-based I/O operations. How to provide fast mounting and consistency of file system and data for flash memory file systems has become important research topics in recent years. In this paper, we design and propo...

A Flash File System to Support Fast Mounting for NAND Flash Memory Based Embedded Systems

In embedded systems, NAND flash memory is typically used as a storage medium because of its non-volatility, fast access time and solid-state shock resistance. However, it suffers from out-place-update, limited erase cycles and page based read/write operations. Flash file systems such as JFFS2 and YAFFS, allocate memory spaces using LFS (Log-structured File System) to solve these problems. Becau...

NOVA: A Log-structured File System for Hybrid Volatile/Non-volatile Main Memories

Fast non-volatile memories (NVMs) will soon appear on the processor memory bus alongside DRAM. The resulting hybrid memory systems will provide software with submicrosecond, high-bandwidth access to persistent data, but managing, accessing, and maintaining consistency for data stored in NVM raises a host of challenges. Existing file systems built for spinning or solid-state disks introduce soft...

The Direct Access File System (DAFS) is a new, fast, and lightweight remote file system protocol. DAFS targets the data center by addressing the performance and functional needs of clusters of application servers. We call this the local file sharing environment. File access performance is improved by utilizing Direct Access Transports, such as InfiniBand, Remote Direct Data Placement, and the V...
